Bug Fixes (Sportzcast)

Q2-Q3 2024

Below is a description of all known issues Genius Sports fixed across our Sportzcast products in Q2-Q3 2024.

1. Legacy XML Softball Fixes 

Description: We identified and resolved an issue with XML transformation when the third-party software "Ross Xpression" attempted to retrieve data from a Softball game managed in the controller. Given that XML is no longer supported as a data file type, we have introduced a Legacy XML transformation service to facilitate compatibility. This fix is now available on ScoreLink+. 

Resolution: This resolution allows customers who utilize legacy systems or third-party software relying on XML formats to continue receiving accurate and timely data without the need to overhaul their existing setups. This enhancement ensures seamless integration and continuity of service, reducing disruptions and maintaining the reliability of data flow during Softball games. 

 

2. Skorled Data refreshing 

Description: Skorled scoreboard controller data was not refreshing and has been fixed.  

Resolution: The resolution of this refreshing issue significantly enhances the user experience by ensuring that scoreboard data is consistently updated in real time. This fix guarantees that all displayed information remains accurate and up-to-date, crucial for the effective management of live event 

 

3. ScoreLink I Mac Address not being sent with Digi 

Description: Corrected Fairplay Digi lookup table.  

Resolution: The correction of the Fairplay Digi lookup table now ensures that the MAC address is properly included in the data sent from ScoreLink I devices. This resolution enhances the reliability of device identification and network security, improving customer confidence in the data integrity and security of their ScoreLink setups.

 

4. Nevco Hockey Penalties Fixed 

Description: Nevco Hockey Code (3,44) was not decoding penalties correctly. 

Resolution: This fix ensures that penalties in Nevco Hockey games are now accurately decoded and displayed, providing teams and officials with reliable and precise penalty information. 

 

5. ScoreLinks with Laird Radio Chip Reporting Proper Mac Address 

Description: We have identified and resolved an issue with ScoreLinks equipped with the Laird Radio Chip where the MAC address was not being reported correctly. 

Resolution: The resolution ensures that all ScoreLinks with the Laird Radio Chip now report the correct MAC address. This fix improves network management and device tracking capabilities, enhancing operational reliability and easing the setup process for users. 

 

6. Fairplay MP69 Baseball Fixed 

Description: Scoreboard decoder for Fairplay MP69 Baseball was not showing the protocol and has since been fixed.  

Resolution: With the protocol issue resolved, customers using the Fairplay MP69 Baseball decoder can now rely on accurate and consistent data presentation. 

 

7. Dak Baseball Code 5601 Packet Errors 

Description: Fixed error occurring with Dak Baseball code, one of the scoreboard controller configurations we support.  

Resolution: This fix ensures that the protocol is now displayed correctly, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of game data displayed on the scoreboard. This improvement aids in the seamless operation of the scoreboard during baseball games, ensuring accurate game tracking and display. 

 

8. Emulated Clock Registers Stop/Running Flag in Milliseconds Clock 

Description: Previously, the emulated clock feature was not registering the Stop/Running flag when set to milliseconds mode. This issue has now been addressed to ensure full functionality across all settings. 

Resolution: With this update, users can now see an accurate Stop/Running status even when the clock is in milliseconds mode. This enhancement improves the precision and usability of the emulated clock, particularly beneficial during events that require detailed time tracking, ensuring a seamless and accurate time-keeping experience. 

 

9. Accurate Home & Guest Fouls Representation 

Description: A misalignment was identified in the display of fouls data, where Home Fouls and Guest Fouls were incorrectly positioned, leading to data presentation errors during games 

Resolution: This update corrects the positions for Home and Guest Fouls data on our displays. With this resolution, teams and viewers can trust that foul information is accurately represented, enhancing the integrity and clarity of the game data provided. 

 

10. OES 9000-Football (9-52) Possession 

Description: An issue was identified where the possession data for OES 9000-Football (9-52) was not displaying correctly. This bug has been fixed across our platforms including BS, SCIII, and SL+. 

Resolution: With this update, the possession information will now accurately reflect the current state of play, ensuring users have precise and reliable data during football games.  

 

11. OES 9000- Soccer (9-87) Home & Guest Saves  

Description: We identified a bug affecting the Home and Guest saves display when using the OES Pro-Soccer-Solo configuration. Specifically, Guest Saves on the controller were incorrectly shown as Home Saves on our system, and Home Saves on the controller resulted in a blank field for Guest Saves. This issue has been addressed and a fix has been deployed across our Bot Server ScoreConnectIII, and ScoreLink+

Resolution: Fix ensures that users have access to precise and reliable match data. 

 

12. ScoreConnectIII updates its local IP address  

Description: Previously, ScoreConnectIII (SCIII) encountered an issue where it did not update its local IP address following changes in the network connection, impacting live stats updates for CFL events. This issue caused connectivity problems with local clients relying on accurate network data. 

Resolution: A fix has been implemented to ensure that SCIII dynamically updates its local IP address when there are network changes and reliably communicates this updated information to all connected local clients. This update is particularly crucial for uninterrupted live data streams during CFL events, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of our system. 

 

13. Varsity Decoder not working in SL+ and SC3 

Description: Varsity Gen1 decoder, was not functioning properly in ScoreLink+ (SL+) and ScoreConnect III (SC3) devices. The problem was identified as incorrect data framing, which hindered accurate data decoding. 

Resolution: The framing issue in the Varsity Gen1 decoder has been corrected, ensuring that it now works seamlessly within the SL+ and SC3 environments. This fix enhances the reliability and accuracy of data transmission from Varsity scoreboards.  

 

14. ScoreConnect III showed Update Banner even though it is in the latest version 

Description: An issue was identified where SCIII displayed an "Update" banner even though it was already updated to the latest version. This caused unnecessary confusion among users. The erroneous display of the update banner in SSCIII has been resolved. SCIII will no longer show an update prompt when it is already running the latest version. 

Resolution: This fix eliminates confusion and ensures that users can trust the update system to accurately reflect their software status. 

 

15. ScoreConnectIII - BotServer Communication Fix

Description: An issue was identified where SCIII was experiencing communication problems with BotServer (BS). We improved communication protocols and error handling between SCIII and BS to ensure reliable data transmission.

Resolution: Ensures stable and consistent communication between SCIII and BS. Reduces data transmission errors and improves overall system reliability.

 

16. ScoreConnectIII / ScoreLink+ API Endpoints Fixes 

Description: Several issues with the new API endpoints for SCIII and SL+ were reported. We updated and fixed the API endpoints to ensure they function correctly and reliably with all supported operations.

Resolution: Ensures seamless integration with new API endpoints. Enhances the reliability and functionality of API-based operations.

17. ScoreConnectIII / ScoreLink+ Raw Data Capture Edge Cases Fixes

Description: Identified edge cases where raw data capture in SCIII and SL+ was not functioning as expected. We addressed and fixed the issues to ensure accurate raw data capture in all scenarios.

Resolution: Ensures complete and accurate raw data capture. Enhances the reliability and accuracy of data recording.
