Version 1 Next »

The Match Viewer displays the current state of sports matches, and events that happen within them, in real time. It can be used by traders and other specialists, or even just fans who want to follow the progress of a match. It can be used from any device with a Web browser and an internet connection.

The Match Viewer is backed by Genius Sports's technology platform and statistician network.

The Match Viewer is available at https://matchviewer.geniussports.com.

The current version of the Match Viewer only supports Football (Soccer) matches.

Login & Licensing

To access the Match Viewer, you need an active account with a username and password. These user accounts are created by Genius Sports. If you don't have an account, contact your GS representative.

Each user account has access to a specific range of fixtures (specific sports, leagues, etc.). To modify this licensing for your account, contact your GS representative.

You can use the Forgot your password? link to reset your password. A one-time recovery password will be sent to the email address associated with your account. After you log in, you will have to set a new secure password.

After you log in, you will see three tabs: LiveSchedule and Settings.

Roles

There are two different roles in the Match Viewer.

Admin-User, who can:

  • See All Fixtures Page, where all fixtures, for which the client is licensed are listed
  • Book and unbook fixtures
  • See everything else, which the trader-user can see.

Regular-User, who can

  • See only the fixtures, which an admin-user has booked (in Scheduled Fixtures tab)
  • See My Fixtures tab, which contains the list of fixtures that the user want to be displayed on the Live Page

Booking Mode

To be able to book fixtures the admin-user need to go into 'booking mode', which is done be clicking on the toggle in the top right corner of the All Fixtures tab of the Schedule Page.

In order to prevent accidental clicking, the admin-user is warned that booking a fixture will lead to billing so he can be careful when selecting fixtures.

When booking mode is on, a 'book' button is active for every fixture.

Booked fixtures appear in the Scheduled Fixtures tab of admin-users and trader-users as well. From there they can select, which fixtures they want to assign to themselves so they will appear on their Live Page.

Schedule

This is where you select the fixtures for viewing. The available fixtures are limited to those for which your account is licensed.

For each fixture, you will see the following information:

  • Start (local) - the start time of the match, in your timezone (based on your device's current time).
  • Competition - the league or tournament to which this match belongs.
  • Fixture - the teams or competitors in this match.
  • Coverage - indicates whether the event is covered from the venue or TV (information will be available soon)
  • Lineups - indicates whether the event has lineup information or not (information will be available soon)
  • Assigned - check this box to add this fixture to your Live tab.

The All Fixtures tab displays all available fixtures in your selected date range. The Scheduled Fixtures tab displays only fixtures that you have selected.

By default, the Schedule displays fixtures with start times from -3 hours to +12 hours from the current time. Use the Date Range button to expand your selection of fixtures.

Not all fixtures from the selected Date Range are loaded at one. The user can see the first batch of fixtures and scrolling down will automatically load more fixtures.

Live

This page displays a widget for each fixture that was selected in the Schedule.

By default, the fixtures are arranged in the order that they were selected. Hold/click and drag the widget to rearrange fixtures.

The background colors of widgets on this page mean:

  • White - the match has not started yet, or had ended, or is in half-time.
  • Green - the match is in progress, but safe.
  • Yellow - an attack is in progress.
  • Red - Danger State: an event that can affect the fixture's markets.

If the widget itself is greyed out, then there is no feed from this match into the Genius Sports system. This is usually true for a match that will begin far into the future (so our statisticians have not connected yet), or the match has ended a long time ago.

Fixture Widgets

You can expand each fixture to show up to five different widget sections. Click the  button in the top right corner to select the widgets for this fixture.

The main fixture widget contains:

  • The competition name;
  • The names of the teams/sides;
  • For each team, a color box that shows the primary and secondary color of their kit;
  • The score;
  • The current game time and Started time;
  • Indicator of VAR support
  • A color indicator of the quality of the feed (connection to Genius Sports's source of InPlay data):
    • Green - event feed is active;
    • Red - event feed is unreliable or disconnected;
    • Grey - no feed (including in PreMatch, before our statistician has logged on).
  • A short summary of statistics per side:
    • Yellow cards;
    • Red cards;
    • Shots on goal;
    • Corner kicks;
    • Dangerous attacks;
    • Percentage of ball possession.

To avoid confusion between fixtures with the same starting time, but on a different date, in the Summary Component it is shown 'Today', 'Yesterday', 'Tomorrow', or in the rest of cases the date of the fixture.

Fixtures can be resized by moving the slider on the top right corner. Three different widget sizes are available - small, medium, large.

To close a fixture click on the three dots in the upper-right corner, scroll down and click on the remove fixture button.

In addition to the main (summary) widget, the following extra widgets are available:

The color box in a match event shows the team in possession of the ball (by their kit color, as in the main widget). The events are also color-coded by type.

For each match event, there is a timestamp and a sequential number of this event in the match.

  • The timestamp is shown in game time. If you hover over the timestamp, you will see a popup showing it in real time (based on your device's timezone).

Mixed Match Events

if you check this box, this fixture's Match Events will be added to the sidebar.

The Mixed Match Events sidebar displays match events from all selected fixtures in real time.

  • This setting is not retroactive. The sidebar will show all match events from the time the setting was activated, but will not load previous events from a match in progress.
  • Use the button to select the types of event that will be shown in the sidebar.
  • The bold team is in possession of the ball.
  • Each event in the sidebar shows a timestamp.

If you want to always see the Mixed Match Events sidebar, go to 1307771035.

Event Popups

When an important event happens in a match that you are following, a popup will appear. It will show a summary of the event and the match state at this time. You will need to click Acknowledge to close the popup.

Until you have acknowledged an event, you cannot close the popup and interact with the Match Viewer. If more events occur, they are stacked and will appear as popups in sequence. You need to acknowledge all events individually.
