Auto-Booking

Introduction

The Auto Booking function is available within the InPlay Manager and can configured to automatically book events from all the available competitions from all available sports. The Auto Booking tool can be used as an alternative to the Booking API’s Booking call and this page will serve as a user guide on how to set it up.

Auto-Booking User Guide

The Auto Booking interface is located on the top toolbar within the In Play Manager. Click the Auto Booking Settings link and the sport you wish to configure. (For this example, eSports will be used.) Once you have clicked into eSports the Auto Booking templates will be listed on the main display. If this is your first time using the feature the list may be blank and you may just see a blank text box and the ‘Add Setting’ button. If the Auto Booking is already configured you will see all active templates for that sport.

Assuming you are starting templates from scratch, type in the name of the template you need into the test box and click ‘Add Setting’. It is recommended that you name the template with as much detail as possible so that you know which ones to manage and apply going forward. Examples:

  • Basketball NBA and Euroleague

  • Basketball 2ndtier competitions

  • Basketball low grade competitions

The template will now sit in the list for that sport. However, it will be an empty shell of a template and will have no effect until the settings are toggled on and countries/competitions are applied to it.

Template Settings

Enabled: This box has to be toggled on for the template to be active. If you apply leagues to the template without the template being enabled nothing will happen. If you create a template you no longer want then unticking it as enabled will switch it off. When you disable a template all fixtures that have been auto booked will be unbooked.

Require Match State Coverage: Match State Coverage tick box indicates that in order for a fixture to be booked a match state feed must be present for the relevant event. An example of this could be a Football data feed making itself available for a Football match, or a Basketball feed coming online for a Basketball event. If this feature is selected and match state coverage doesn’t come online for a fixture, then the fixture shall not be booked.

Require Trading State Coverage: Trading State Coverage tick box indicates that in order for a fixture to be booked a trading feed must be present for the relevant event. This refers to trading coverage offered by Genius Sports. If this feature is selected and trading state coverage doesn’t come online for a fixture, then the fixture shall not be booked.

For a fixture to be actually traded In Play it will need a Match State and Trading State within the Events screen. In the image below, both fixtures may Auto Book depending on the settings you apply to your templates but only the bottom one would be traded In Play.

Lead-In (Days): This value defines how soon before the fixtures start time the event will be Auto-Booked. The requirements for this may vary from bookmaker to bookmaker depending on their own scheduling operations and needs. This is the initial trigger for the Auto Booking process to start, if any of the other criteria boxes (match state/trading state) change in the time between the lead in value and the start of the fixture then BG will know and update the booking accordingly.

Please note that we suggest setting the Lead-In (Days) value to 1 day for the best performance and user experience.

Delete: This button will delete the template. You cannot delete a template that is applied to leagues. You’ll have to unlink it from leagues before deleting the template. (Linking/unlinking explained later in this guide.) If you try to delete a template that is applied to leagues the Delete button will just be greyed out and can not be pressed.

Applying a Template

Once you have a template for Auto Booking it needs to be applied. Staying in the Auto Booking Settings window with your sport selected, click on the country required. (eg. eSports > AoV.) The competition types available for that sport & country will be presented on the main window.

To apply an Auto Booking template to a competition click on the drop down box under ‘Setting’ and select the required template you created earlier. This will auto save and be applied to that competition. To remove this template from the competition just set the drop down box back to be blank. Please note that all fixtures that have been booked by the previous template (before setting the drop box back to blank) will stay booked. In order to unbook these fixtures, navigate to the Events tab, find the booked fixtures in the affected competition, open them and untick “Use Match State Feed” and “Use Trading Feed” boxes under the setting tab.

If you now navigate to the Events screen and locate the Sport and Competition in question you should see the fixtures that meet your template settings booked for In Play trading.

Notes

Fixtures that are about to start – If the fixture is due to start in less than 10 minutes after the Auto-Booking template was assigned to the competition, Auto Booking will not book it.

Manual Bookings – If a fixture is Auto Booked and a user manually removes the booking it will remain unbooked. If a fixture is manually booked and the Auto Booking feature rules state that it should it be unbooked, it will remain booked as per the manual intervention.

UAT – The Betgenius UAT is environment is not designed to handle the load associated with auto booking. Thus Autobooking can not be enabled in the UAT environment.

Book All

We have now introduced a new feature to the Auto Booking tool that will allow you to automatically book all events from all competitions from individual Sports called “Book All”. To use this function, click Auto Booking on the top bar in the InPlay manager - you will the be presented with the configuration options for the Book All tool as seen below.

The settings listed here function the same way as they do with individual templates, which were described earlier. Using the settings provided, you can set what content you want to be booked, if the Match State and Trading Feeds need to be present, how many days in advance you want the event to be booked via the Lead-In option and from what sports do you want the events to be booked.

Once you have ticked a sport in the tool and then select the Sport from the list on the left, you will then see that the “Book All” option for it has been enabled as seen below.
